Evil scary monsters

Dearest My Peeps,
Honestly, I really wonder what God was thinking when He made spiders to look so blasted scary! I got home from work, finished my book, went to go to my room and there was this huge evil spider sitting on the second last step going downstairs. It was at least as big as a twoonie. I mean, I want to say it's as big as my hand, but that'd definately be crazy exageration.
Since the folks were in bed and it was nearing 2 am, I was left to fend for my poor terrified self. I fetched the can of Spider Blaster Raid and started back down the stairs. I stepped on the squeaky stair and suddenly the stupid thing was gone! Well, obviously not stupid, it knew some predator was out to get it, but still! So I ventured down the stairs, quickly, hardly able to make myself keep going. I looked all around (from a suitable, SAFE distance) but couldn't see him. So I went back up the stairs, quickly, still frightened, and from above, gave the bottom four stairs a throughal spraying. I went back upstairs, got my juice & book and started back down.
The poor guy was feebly crawling back out (the stairs were damp with spray & it's really strong stuff, supposed to keep working for up to two weeks), so of course I felt horribly guilty. I went back up, put my juice down, got the spray again and ventured back to see. I couldn't quite brave walking by him when he was still up to scuttling, so I jumped off the steps and ran a few feet away.
Then I watched him for a minute, trying to decide if he was dead. I went closer and gave him a real good spray, because he was still trying to move. Then I gave him a nother just to be on the safe side. I mean, I'm terrified of the beasts, but I don't want to make them suffer. That's just mean and I don't hate them after all. They provide a very valid and necessary service. I just don't want to see them, or know of their location or existance. In this instance, ignorance IS bliss. Bliss I tell you, BLISS!
Never should have watched Lord of the Rings. Honestly. I don't remember being so throughly terrified of them when I was little. I didn't like them, made somebody else dispose of them, but they didn't leave me feeling so shaky after an encounter with them. Ah well, it's all good. He's definately dead now, I left a message for my father to give him a proper burial at sea, and it's all done.
Besides, I'm talking to Pat on MSN and he makes everything okay. I find it very hard to be upset when I'm with him. I mean, I know I'm not with him in the true sense of the term, but it's still Pat and we're still talking to each other, so it'll do.
Now my left upper chest, nearing my shoulder is all sore. Probably that jump from the 5th or 6th stair up. I'm pretty sure it can't be the spray, since it's at the other side of the basement AND my window is wide open. Besides, it's not that it hurts to breathe or anything, it's jsut a dull ache, sorta in the muscles. I'm just not used to the physical exertion I suppose. Go figure, I'm such a couch potato. A regular spud I be. Regular indeed.
Anyhow, I'm headed out. It's almost 2:30 and since I work at 2 tomorrow I should get to bed. Sleep off the fright, mostly likely with a light on, just in case I have a scaredy attack because of some little noise or something. The dark is nearly as bad as spiders. At least when it's light you can see what moves and where it is and all that. When it's dark, you can't see anything. You have no warning if something is creeping up behind you, ready to grab/bite/be mean to you. So I suppose, in theory, it's not the dark that I'm afraid of, it's the scary beastly monsters that hide in it.
However, bedtime is a bad time to think about all that, so I'm stopping now. Thanks to Pat for helping smooth out my rumpled spirit. I'll talk to you all again later.
Cheers! Vicky Ellen

(PS: Sitting quietly has resulted in a complete calming down, so I'm no longer sore. Just thought I'd let you all know, in case you happened to want to worry. Not that I can quite think anybody would worry about me, but I never can tell after all. It's better to cover my bases and make sure that I don't cause anybody undue stress. Cheers again! VE)
